Description

Established in 2002, Normal Park Magnet School (NPMM) is a pre-K through 8th grade public school with 800 children. Housed in two historic buildings in North Chattanooga, NPMM has become an engine of community development and a leader in innovative education. At NPMM, exploration is the curriculum. Working with local museums, teachers and staff create a school environment unlike any other in the United States. They promote meaningful discovery through hands-on, engaged learning that connects classrooms to our town. Since being named the number one Magnet School in the country in 2005, NPMM has become a national model, and continues to receive numerous state and national awards.

NPMM succeeds because of community involvement, including its largest annual fundraiser -- Fork & Gavel. Now gearing up for its 20th year, proceeds from this event fund the essentials that are not covered by the county and help Normal Park to remain America’s #1 Magnet School. It starts with an Online Auction. Then, the event itself on Saturday, October 26th, held at Hunter Museum will include food, drinks, music, and a live auction.

Fork and Gavel proceeds are used based on the needs of the school each year. Previous funds were used for technology improvements, related arts teacher positions, science lab upgrades, and most recently, renovations to the upper and lower school campuses' outdoor classrooms and play areas.
