Established in 2002, Normal Park Magnet School (NPMM) is a pre-K through 8th grade public school with 800 children. Housed in two historic buildings in North Chattanooga, NPMM has become an engine of community development and a leader in innovative education. At NPMM, exploration is the curriculum. Working with local museums, teachers and staff create a school environment unlike any other in the United States. They promote meaningful discovery through hands-on, engaged learning that connects classrooms to our town. Since being named the number one Magnet School in the country in 2005, NPMM has become a national model, and continues to receive numerous state and national awards.
NPMM succeeds because of community involvement, including its largest annual fundraiser -- Fork & Gavel. Now gearing up for its 20th year, proceeds from this event fund the essentials that are not covered by the county and help Normal Park to remain America’s #1 Magnet School. It starts with an online auction. Then, the event itself on Saturday, October 26th, held at Hunter Museum will include food, drinks, music, and a live auction. Previous years' proceeds have funded technology upgrades, related arts teaching positions, science lab renovations, and improvements to both out upper and lower school campus outdoor areas.
