Our family hosts the Fred Torres Memorial 5K run/walk each year.  We are seeking out sponsorships and donations for our race on October 14, 2018 which will be held at Garrett Mountain in Woodland Park, NJ.

About Fred Torres:

Fred Torres was a mainstay in the running community.  A runner himself, Fred donated countless hours to mentoring young athletes, supporting running events throughout the area, and officiating high school athletics.  He also owned his own race timing company, Elite Racing Systems.  On January 20, 2014 Fred suffered a heart attack while jogging with fellow colleagues at an annual conference for race-timers.  A scholarship was created in his name to continue his passion for supporting our young athletes and the running community.  The Fred Torres Memorial Scholarship is presented each year to outstanding graduating student-athletes of the Clifton High School (NJ) Cross County and Track & Field Teams.  100% of the race proceeds will go to the Fred Torres Memorial Fund and the Fred Torres Memorial Scholarships.
