CAHOOTS’ GIVE-AND-GIVE-BACK

ONLINE AUCTION FUNDRAISER RETURNS!

Cahoots Theatre is a Toronto-based, not-for-profit theatre organization and home for

artists from the edge. We are excited to announce the return of our Give-and-Give- Back

Online Auction! We invite you to take a few moments to learn about our upcoming

fundraiser, running from November 1st to December 13th, 2023, and consider

participating by donating an item to our auction!

Cahoots is a leader in the theatre community for artists of colour, Indigenous artists,

artists with disabilities, queer artists, and other marginalized groups. We develop, produce

and present works that refocus the spotlight and engage diverse communities. Last year we

have put on two shows: our place by Kanika Ambrose and Between a Wok and a Hot Pot by

Amanda Lin. These two productions garnered 10 Dora Nominations and 2 Dora wins and

were wonderfully receive by our theatre community and beyond! We are thrilled to

continue engaging in live performance while also sharing community initiatives that allow us

to interact with, get to know, and enjoy creative explorations with the public.

Our first production of 23/24 is Sweeter by Alicia Richardson. Set twenty years after the

American Civil War, a small Florida farm gets a remarkable import—a talking mango tree

who’s desperate to bear fruit but lacks confidence. The Mango Tree goes on a journey of

enchanted growth with the help of a farmer’s daughter (Sweet Pea), her dad (Ralph), and

the soulful songs of the sun (Dee), but the owner of the land (Zucker) has a rotten plan to

steal The Mango Tree’s magic. As a brutal winter threatens the future of the farm, will love

or greed prevail?

To support this essential and vibrant new theatrical work and many of our community

initiatives including our massively successful Directed By… sessions, and GRADually sessions,

we will be holding our Give-and-Give-Back Online Auction from November 1st to

December 13th, 2023. Our previous auctions have raised over $10,000 for the organization,

100% of which goes directly to our company’s programming and outreach initiatives.

Please consider giving to Cahoots by donating an item for online bid! For your generosity,

you and your company will receive recognition on our website, in our social media ‘shoutouts’

to over 7,000 followers, and in our monthly newsletter reaching over 4,000

subscribers. Your company and donated item will also be listed on the auction website for

the duration of the fundraiser. Additionally, your donation is tax-deductible. We would be

happy to provide a donation receipt for the retail value of the donated item upon request.

We thank you for considering supporting Cahoots and the work we do with, and for, the

incredible communities we serve. If you wish to discuss this opportunity further, please do

not hesitate to contact us directly at samantha@cahoots.ca or 647-936-4934.

Sincerely,

The Cahoots Theatre Fundraising Committee
