On Wednesday August 23rd, 2023, the fourth annual Glimmer of Hope Golf Tournament in support of
Epilepsy York Region (EYR) will take place at Angus Glen Golf Club, in Markham, Ontario. This special
event is in place to support those living with epilepsy across York Region in so many ways. It is the
inspiration and primary funder of our Glimmer of Hope Summer Camp for children with epilepsy. This
program provides children with the wonderful experience of a safe and inclusive summer camp, as for
many children living with epilepsy, many summer camps come with restrictions and barriers. This event
also helps raise needed funds to support our social work program; and of course, is also a day to raise
awareness, erase the stigma, and come together to support our family, friends, and neighbors that live
with this disease every day.
Epilepsy York Region, an organization that has supported those in the community for 35 years, is so
proud to partner with the Lesti Family, who are the inspiration for this day of golf, fun, friends, family,
awareness, and support. Over the past three decades, EYR has provided countless hours of support to
schools, community groups, and health service providers with the necessary information and education
to keep our children and families safe. We have assisted many by providing the resources needed to
enhance their quality of life – such as summer/winter camps, education/seizure response seminars for
schools and community groups, support programs for parents and adults, child and family programs,
social programs, one-on-one support, and peer support. Most importantly, we have been a voice for those
who hide behind the stigma, we have been a friend.
