Description

Our Gold Ribbon Golf & Gala is our largest fundraiser of the year with more than 40 golf teams and near 400 gala guests enjoying our event September 8 and 16, 2023. On average, our golf & gala raises $120,000 for Kansas childhood cancer families. Our golf & gala is vital in Love, Chloe continuing to help these families.

Love, Chloe provides immediate and long-term assistance to these families who are navigating a childhood cancer diagnosis. When a child is diagnosed, most families immediately lose an income so that a parent can travel to and from treatment and care for the child. Our annual financial assistant grants provide $1,500 to these families to use in any way they need. In addition, the families can request a $250 gas card to help with travel expenses and a Warrior Wagon. Our wagons consist of a large, canvas wagon piled high with travel friendly snacks, toys and activities for the child in treatment and each sibling, comfortable clothing and socks for the child to wear in the hospital, Love, Chloe gear, blankets, and more. In addition, each wagon contains a $500 gift card to use however the parents need plus three additional gift cards to the child's favorite restaurants. In total, each wagon averages $1,500 in value.

We also provide Monkey in My Chair kits to childhood cancer warriors across the U.S. The Monkey in My Chair program was created by Love, Chloe founder, Heidi Feyerherm-Smith, after her daughter, Chloe, passed away from DIPG in 2007. Chloe loved school and monkeys, so the Monkey kits were designed to keep children in treatment connected to their classmates in school. The kit includes a large, stuffed monkey that sits in the absent child's chair, a small monkey that stays with the child in the hospital or at home, a large backpack, a journal, pencils and pens, and a smaller backpack that is used to collect notes and pictures from his/her classmates.

Behind the scenes, parents of our cancer warriors find support from the other parents who are or who have experienced a childhood cancer diagnosis. Love, Chloe provides a private Facebook page just for our cancer families where they can connect, chat and share experiences.
