Description

On Thursday, April 2, 2020, the Upstate New York Chapter of the ALS Association will host our Inaugural Growing Hope Soiree at the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens.  This new and exciting event will be co-chaired by Lou Billittier Jr., owner of Chef’s Restaurant and former Buffalo Sabres Right Winger Danny Gare.  Growing Hope will continue to support our patient service programs, advocacy efforts, public education and research toward the pursuit of a cure.  The ALS Association is the only national not-for-profit, voluntary health organization dedicated solely to the fight against ALS.

Proceeds from events such as these provide funding for chapter programs and services while building awareness of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) and strengthening the Association’s ties within our community.  The UNY Chapter helps local patients and families cope with the day-to-day challenges of living with ALS by providing education, guidance, information, referral sources and care services programs.  Patients who are registered with the chapter can access any or all of the Care Services programs that we offer at no cost.  These programs include ALS Assistance and Caregiver Respite Program grants, monthly education and awareness groups, home visits from local Care Services staff and the Robert Wright Memorial Equipment Loan Program, which provides durable medical equipment loans to patients in need.
