Heightened Independence and Progress (hip) is a 501(c)(3) non-residential Center for Independent Living that has been providing programs and services to people with disabilities in northern New Jersey (Bergen and Hudson Counties) for over 35 years. hip’s services include peer support, advocacy, care management, and a Braille transcription service. Other programs provide funding for the purchase of disability-related equipment and home modifications that increase accessibility and safety, and another assists high school students with disabilities to successfully transition to adult life. Most of hip’s Board of Trustees and staff are people with disabilities, which creates a welcoming environment for those we serve and enables the agency to have a clear understanding of the needs of the community. 
We would greatly appreciate any type of donation for our 2nd Annual Gala, which is taking place at the Elan in Lodi, NJ on October 18, 2024. Funds raised will support new programs and supplement those that are underfunded. Donated items will be used in a silent auction to help us raise $15,000. The proceeds will provide essential durable medical equipment and home modifications to the growing number of those in need.
