The East Travis Gateway Library District is having its first teen and adult summer reading program. To participate in this program, teens and adults read a book, and write a short or long review of the book to create a community display of our patrons' picks. With the review made, they receive a raffle ticket to enter for a drawing. Having a reading program for adults, fosters a love of lifelong reading and also shows children a good example of parents or adults reading in the community. In the population we serve, many patrons are financially restrained. As part of a community effort, we are trying to offer our patrons life experiences, such as a trip to an amusement park which many patrons may not be able to experience. Donors will want to participate to increase visibility and exposure of places and events to patrons in the Del Valle area and to serve the diverse populations of the Del Valle area.
