JHA Annual Event 2023
Gala/Party for John Howard AssociationOct 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
JHA’s Annual Event informs and educates guests on the need for prison reform and the role JHA’s advocacy plays in creating change. Our event will be a two-hour evening event with a reception and a program; beverages and light appetizers will be provided. There will be both in-person and virtual attendance options, and the recorded event will be available on our website after the event.
We feature speakers whose experiences and areas of expertise are varied and enlighten our audience about the prison system in ways that fuel their knowledge, interest, and commitment to fighting for change. This year, we will host Louis L. Reed, who serves as Fines and Fees Justice Center’s National Advocacy and Campaigns Director. As one of the country’s leading figures in the field of social impact, Louis brings years of experience and expertise in government, criminal justice reform, policy advocacy, public health, and personal impact. Having spent nearly 14 years in federal prison and several years on supervision, his leadership led to the passage of more than 30 state and federal level bills, including the historic First Step Act in 2018. Louis’s public policy outcomes have created a pathway to freedom for 650,000+ people affected by the criminal justice system.
All funds will be used to support JHA’s prison monitoring and advocacy program.
