Description

The James F. Mikulski Memorial Group/Jim's Bridge to a Brighter Future is an IRS Tax Exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization which benefits school children in underserved areas of Chicago through scholarships and by funding academic, artistic and athletic school programs, as a tribute to the life of James Mikulski who passed by suicide in 2013.  Since its inception in 2014, our charity has granted over a quarter million dollars towards scholarships and school programs while keeping operating expenses well below 10% of revenue.  Our organization is run entirely by volunteers.

We have awarded more than 100 scholarships and sponsored well over 50 school/after school programs, thereby helping hundreds of children.   We support three schools which reside in Englewood, West Englewood and Gage Park.  We also support a community service organization that services the West Town and the Little Village areas.  Examples of our support include funding and distributing fully stocked backpacks for children as they go back to school, funding of bus transportation to field trips, sponsoring Christmas time events, funding play time equipment, providing supplies for after school clubs and athletic teams, and funding costumes for school plays.

The annual fundraiser is our largest single fundraising event.   Over 300 people, who reside in the greater Chicago area, will be invited.    We will prominently acknowledge the donation from the Intercontinental Chicago Hotel at the Silent Auction table and in a flyer distributed to all attendees.

Our fundraising goal is $15,000 -$20,000 dollars
