John Woods Schaeffer Memorial Scholarship Clay Shoot
Other Event Type for John Woods Schaeffer Memorial ScholarshipAug 26, 2023 from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM
My name is Kristen Schaeffer Betts, and along with my sister, Elizabeth Schaeffer Minter, we represent the JWS Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The JWS Memorial Scholarship was created in honor of our late father, John Woods Schaeffer, who valued education, hard work, and a willingness to give back to one's community.
Upon his retirement, our father became a substitute teacher in both Magnolia ISD and Montgomery ISD. Dad also volunteered his time with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Montgomery County Fair Association and local 4-H and FFA students. He felt this was an opportunity to continue to help guide the youth of today by helping to instill good morals and a strong work ethic. The JWS Memorial Scholarship is designed to help students who emulate these characteristics.
The JWS Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to local seniors at Magnolia ISD, Montgomery ISD, and Tomball ISD. Over the last four years we have had the pleasure of awarding $50,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors, helping to continue their education in a trade school, community college, or university.
In conjunction with our clay shoot we also hold a silent auction. The JWS Memorial Scholarship is looking for items for our silent auction and would love it if you would be willing to donate towards our silent auction again. Donations can be in any form: monetary, gift cards/certificates/tickets, a basket representing your establishment, passes etc… Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. The JWS Memorial Scholarship will advertise your donation on our Facebook and Instagram page.
With your generous donation we would be able to add to the number of scholarships given to help further a child’s education. Working together we can make a difference in our community.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing your response.
