Kiwanis International and Kiwanis Aktion Club ( https://www.aktionclub.org/ ) is having our annual fundraiser. A big part of our planning committee is young adults with Down syndrome that serve our community.

We are helping to break the cycle of poverty in Central Florida by raising money at our annual Light Up the Knight party and silent auction. The funds raised will be used for meals, shoes, backpacks, and toys ( through our Give Kids a Christmas) for the “Motel Kids” and other suffering children that reside here in Central Florida.

Sadly, the only meals most of these children get are the ones at school. I visit them regularly, and they never seem to have food or a good pair of shoes that actually fit and aren't falling apart. Two years ago we stumbled across kids battling illness and poverty. They range in age from newborn to 16, many of them battling chronic and sometimes life-limiting illnesses in addition to social stressors such as homelessness, food insecurity, and overall poverty. We also go out into the community and identify families who have fallen through the charity cracks. Thank you for your consideration.
