Description

Hello!   156th Street Elementary School is a BSAP (Black Student Achievement Plan) and Title 1 School located withing Los Angeles Unified School District.  Serving the beautiful community of Gardena, 156th St. Elementary is a school that demonstrates the importance of great attendance and good character. Our 375 students in Transitional Kindergarten through 6th grade are a diverse group that spans many ethnicities and cultures; including two classes for students with special needs.  We strive to create an environment of academic achievement and acceptance.  We have some of the best attendance rates and test scores in Gardena and rate an 8 out of 10 on GreatSchools.org. We have also been awarded the CA Distinguished School, CA Gold Ribbon School, and the National Blue Ribbon awards.

During the week of October 23, 2023, our students will be participating in a week of events promoting Making Healthy Choices, and Living Drug Free.  Our school will emphasize the importance of proper diet, exercise, healthy social and life choices, and most importantly, choosing to live drug free.  We hope to encourage our students to value their health and future life choices.

Throughout the week, we will be raffling off items as incentives to our students that have shown: Great Academic Effort,  Outstanding Citizenship, Healthy Snack and Eating Options, as well as Excellent Attendance.  Raffle tickets have already begun being distributed.  At the culmination of each activity we have planned this week, we will raffle prizes to our TK-6 student population.

Thank you in advance for any support your organization may provide.
