Pancake Breakfast & Silent Auction
Other Event Type for Homebound Meals ProgramOct 30, 2021 from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM
The Homebound Meals Program provides friendship and a hot norishing meal to anyone over the age of 60 who can't prepare a meal for themselves. Five days a week our volunteers deliver a hot norishing meal to our clients and visit with them. Most of our clients live alone. The visits from our volunteers are very important to the well being of the client. During the visit the client may convey some concerns related to health or environment. Homebound Meals can at as a bridge with the extended family in those cases and by passing the concerns along to them so they can be adddressed. As our volunteers say "the meal is just the key to unolocking the door to developing a frindship." The program doesn't have any paid staff. All our workers are volunteers. Meals are prepared daily by volunteers and delivered by volunteers. At this time we are provind friendship and a hot meal to 130 clients. Funds for our budget each year are raised through fundraisers and grants. Our next fundrasing event will be a Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction on Oct. 30th, 2021 at Hendersonville High School. At that event attendees purchase a ticket to a all you can eat Pancake Breakfast. Simutanieous to that event we have a Silent Auction with donated items being sold to the highest bidder.
