Description

The Home Bound Meals Program Provides friendship and a hot norishing meal to anyone over the age of 60 who can't prepare a meal for themselves. Five days a week our volunteers visit with our clients and deliver a nourishing meal. Most of our clients live alone. The visit of our volunteer is very important to the wellbeing of the client.During the visit the client may convey some concerns related to thelath or environment. Home Boud Meals can act as a brigde with the extended family by passing the concerns along to them so they can be adddressed. As our volunteers saay"the meal is just the key to unlocking the door to developing a friendship" The program doesn't have any paid staff. All our workers are volunteers. Meals are prepared daily by volunteeers and delivered by volunteers. At this time we are providing friendship and hot meals to 140 clients. Our budget is funded through donations, fundraisers, and grants. We have our annual big fundraiser on Oct. 21, 2023. It is a Pancake Breakfast & Silent Auction. The event will be held at Hendersonville High School. At that event attendees purchase a ticket to a all you can eat Pancake Breakfast. Simultaneous to that event we have a Silent Auction with donated items being sold to the highest bidder.
