Piscataway Education Foundation Tricky Tray
Other Event Type for Piscataway Education FoundationOct 21, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM
On October 21, 2016, the Piscataway Education Foundation (PEF) will host our annual Tricky Tray, a ticket-based silent auction.
Piscataway Township Schools educates over 7,000 students from preschool through high school. Demographically, we are 17.3% White, 29.5% Black, 32.8% Asian, 17.9% Hispanic, and 2.5% other. Many Asian and Hispanic students are first generation, requiring ESL services, and this year, the district was recognized by the White House as a “Bright Spot in Hispanic Education” and by the National School Board Association for its broad-based ESL program.
Because 40% of our families are disadvantaged, many Piscataway students rely on their schools for more than an excellent education. Many students experience their first professional concert or play, or visit their first museum, due to our efforts. Here are a few examples of projects funded through PEF:
- Middle school students visited the 9/11 Museum and studied local history at the D&R Canal.
- At-risk girls were introduced to a future in computer science through the Liberty Science Center’s focus on app development.
- Preschoolers planted their own school-based organic gardens.
- Elementary students painted hallway murals and tested “active seating” in their classroom.
- High schoolers dug into diversity through cultural awareness spurred through flamenco dance.
- College scholarship for high school senior with extensive community service.
The Piscataway Education Foundation is registered as a 501(c) (3) charity (Tax ID: 22-3185811). Your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.
All sponsors will be recognized in an event program, on our website and social media, in local media and other event publicity. With your support, PEF will continue to enhance and improve the educational experience for all Piscataway students.
