The mission of the Piscataway Education Foundation is two-fold: To provide students with enriched educational opportunities by funding innovative and creative programs that go above and beyond the regular school budget, and to develop alternative sources of income to strengthen and enrich the Piscataway public education program.

Piscataway educates over 7,000 students, who are 18% White, 30% Black, 33% Asian, 19% Hispanic. Many are first generation, requiring ESL services. This year, we were recognized by the White House as a “Bright Spot in Hispanic Education” for our broad-based ESL program. With foundation help, middle school students visited the 9/11 Museum. At-risk girls were introduced to a future in computer science through app development. Preschoolers planted an organic garden. Elementary students painted murals and tested “active seating” in classrooms. High school students dug into diversity through flamenco dance. Along with teacher grants, the PEF offers scholarships to students with extensive community service, and hosts events to promote inclusion and celebrate diversity.
