The United Way of Northeastern Minnesota is preparing for our 13th annual “Power of the Purse” fundraising event, taking place on January 30th at the Mountain Iron Community Center. The funds from this event will be allocated to support our Dolly Parton “Imagination Library” early literacy program.

This initiative provides free books to children in our region from birth to age five, delivered right to their homes! The books encourage early literacy, preparedness for kindergarten and encourage parents to read with their children. Since the inception of the program on the Iron Range in 2008, UWNEMN has delivered over 300,000 books!

To support this effort, United Way of Northeastern Minnesota is expecting more than 250 women to gather to celebrate the “power of their purse” and what their charitable contributions can do. This is a fun evening where women gather to sample wines, enjoy delicious cuisine and have the opportunity to bid on various auction items centered on the things that women enjoy such as PURSES (of course!), pampering packages, wine, coffee, chocolate, weekend get-a-ways, jewelry, cosmetics and so much more. Last year our event had a sold out crowd and we are anticipating the same result this year! This year's event theme is "Boots & Bling"!

The auction committee is hard at work soliciting distinctive live and silent auction items that appeal to the Power of the Purse participants. 

For your donation, your business will receive name recognition during the event, print acknowledgement in our event auction book and an opportunity to showcase your business through display materials (please enclose with your donation).
