The United Way of Northeastern Minnesota is preparing for our 8th annual “Power of the Purse” fundraising event, taking place on January 16, 2014 at Valentini’s Supper Club in Chisholm, MN. The funds from this event will be allocated to support our “Smiles Across Minnesota” preventative dental care program. This program serves under-insured and uninsured children by way of a mobile dental unit in the schools, providing teeth cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants and restorative care. Currently 50% of the children in our schools are eligible for the service and since the inception of the program three years ago, over 2,500 children have received dental care.

To support this effort, United Way of NE MN is expecting more than 200 women to gather to celebrate the “power of their purse” and what their charitable contributions can do. This is a fun evening where women gather to sample wines, enjoy delicious cuisine, bid on live and silent auction items, enter to win raffle prizes - all while giving back to the community. The auctions, raffles and give-away bags are all centered on the things that women enjoy such as purses, pampering packages, wine, coffee, chocolate, weekend get-a-ways, jewelry, cosmetics and so much more. Last year our event had a sold out crowd and we are anticipating the same result this year!
