October 31, 2021 is the date for Race For Hope’s Derriere Dash a 5k run/walk to bring awareness, hope, and support to those that are fighting colorectal cancer.  If you noticed the Leveque Tower in downtown Columbus this March it was Blue for the month to bring awareness to this awful but preventable cancer.  Part of the proceeds from Race For Hope go to make that happen. Proceeds also benefit colorectal cancer programs in Central Ohio, and the Never2Young program through the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

 There is a silent auction and raffle. In the past I have been able to get gift certecificates.

 As a brief history, I started Race for Hope in 2004 to bring hope to my friend that was battling colorectal cancer.  Sadly she died 3 weeks before the first race.  The race has continued to raise awareness about young onset and early detection. In 2016 our 22 year old son fell victim to this cancer. He was misdiagnosed at least 6 months due to his age.  He passed away 7 months later at 22 years old. Colorectal cancer is on the rise in young people in their teens, 20’s and 30’s and we are dedicated to saving these lives with education and awareness.

Race for Hope is a day to remember lives lost, to bring hope to those fighting, and to take action against this cancer. This cancer is on the increase in teens and 20 year old’s so we are doing anything we can to reach this demographics so they know they can get this cancer.

 All of us whose worlds have been turned upside down from this cancer hope you can help this year.  Your support of the event will bring hope to others fighting this terrible disease.
