I have been an advocate for colorectal cancer awareness since 2004 when my dear friend passed away as she was fighting this cancer at age 45. Colorectal cancer is a cancer that occurs in those under 50. Race For Hope was established to raise awarness, bring hope, and raise funding to stop this cancer. Very sadly our 22 year old son was diagnosed with this cancer in 2016 and passed away at age 23 September 2016. This cancer is on the increase in those born after 1990 so it is more important than ever to educate the community that almost anyone can be affected by this awful cancer.
The mission of the race is To Raise Awareness about colorectal cancer. To Educate on the signs and symptoms of the cancer, especially in the under 50 population. To Remember Lives lost to this cancer. To Bring Hope to those in treatment for this cancer. To Take Action against colorectal cancer.
