Race for the Kids is a local non-profit organization based in Monroe County, established in 2013 with the aim of supporting families in the community whose children are battling life-threatening medical illnesses. The organization provides various forms of assistance including covering medical bills, hospital activity expenses, gas and food through gift cards, funeral costs, and funds for necessary home renovations due to illnesses.
The main event organized by Race for the Kids is a charity race held annually. The upcoming race is scheduled for June 8, 2024, starting at 8:30 am at St. Joseph School in Erie, Michigan. Participants have the option to take part in a 5K timed run or a 1-mile family fun walk.
Beyond the race itself, the event offers a range of activities and attractions for attendees of all ages. Following the race, there are opportunities for attendees to engage in silent auctions, live auctions, raffles, and various forms of entertainment such as face painting, magic shows, bounce houses, and photo opportunities with costumed characters. The event aims to create a fun-filled morning for families while supporting a worthy cause.
