Send a Kid to Camp AXE-Travaganza
Sporting Event for Kawartha Haliburton Children's FoundationMay 03, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM
When the Foundation was established in 1983, sending kids to camp was our primary purpose. We have expended our scope of support, yet summer camp has remained a priority program. Summer camp can offer disadvantaged children much more than a vacation. Camp is also an opportunity to connect with new friends, to meet and build relationships with caring adults and counselors, and to discover the inner children they may have long forgotten or never had the opportunity to be. Our goal is to foster feelings of inclusion and belonging in children and build their self-confidence – camp helps us do this.
The “Send a Kid to Camp AXE-Travaganza”, is our major fundraising event to help support our camp program. It is taking place on Friday, May 3rd from 5:30 to 10:00pm at the Peterborough Axe Club. The format of the evening is a friendly axe throwing competition, along with food and a silent auction. Our goal is to bring in 140 competitors who will each purchase a ticket, as well as event sponsors to help us reach our financial goals.
Over the past 40 years the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation has sent 5492 kids to summer camp. Traditionally, our summer camp program makes it possible for approximately 200 children involved with the Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Aid Society, to attend camp each year. We are asking for your help, by providing a silent auction item for our Send a Kid to Camp AXE-Travaganza, you can ensure at-risk children have the opportunity to experience the joy of camp this summer. In doing so, a child will experience a world so different than the abuse and neglect they might have suffered.
