Description

The Showboat Community Theatre is a historic theater built in 1934. It has been an active part of the community since it was donated to the town of Hermann in 1984, and since then has been volunteer-run and provides counltess free and low-cost events for community members. To celebrate the Showboat and its beloved history in the community, we are hosting a gala to raise money for restoration of the theater and for our upcoming production of The Sound of Music.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Showboat is kicking off 2024 with the Riverside Theatre Project (which will be producing The Sound of Music). We are partnering with R-S Theatrics and Half Act Theatre Company to host a cross-community collaboration project designed to encourage rural and urban artists to engage. 50% of our artists are coming from Hermann, and 50% are coming from St. Louis. This will be a huge tourism event for Hermann, which is a tourism-based community. Thousands of people come through each month to experience the historic architecture and culture, so any organizations who choose to donate to the gala will recieve excellent visibility. To thank sponsors and organizations who donate, we also have a sponsor page on our website (riversidetheatreproject.com) and will be posting thank-you's on our social media. All sponsors will also be invited to our invite-only preview of The Sound of Music.

At the gala, there will be appetizers and a cash bar as well as a silent auction filled with donated goods from all over the state of Missouri. We will have live performances from Hermann locals as well as visiting artists from the cast of The Sound of Music. The gala will hopefully raise $10,000 for the Showboat and the Riverside Theatre Project so that we can ensure successful programming for the Showboat Theatre for years to come.
