Description

We are the Buffalo Swimkins, a dynamic group of diverse artistic swimmers! We are an all-inclusive team that is committed to developing athletes with a drive for excellence and a passion for synchronized swimming. Our coaches are dedicated to helping each athlete reach his or her full potential by developing athletic skills while fostering confidence, instilling responsibility and commitment, teaching the value of hard work, goal setting/achieving, leadership, time management skills, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. As a nonprofit, we sincerely welcome your donation to help us further our vision of successful participation in national artistic swimming competitions.

We have our annual all-teams-on-deck Swim-a-Thon October 30, 2023 at the Maryvale High School Natatorium (in Cheektowaga, NY) and hope to raise a minimum of $15,000 with community and family sponsorships. The swimmers are arranged in teams (mixing up all of our age groups) to foster team building. The teams must all swim 200 laps! Families and friends are invited to watch and cheer on! We will have basket raffles and prizes for the swimmers raising the most funds, as well as a prize for the team finishing first. At this Swim-a-Thon, we will verbally acknowledge our sponsors, display a banner thanking our sponsors, as well as promote our sponsors via our website and through all of our social media platforms.

We raise our own funds, provide our own transportation, and utilize volunteer and paid coaches. Minimal funding is presently received from outside organizations. We do a tremendous amount of volunteer work to fund our organization as well. We have partnered again with the Buffalo Marathon to provide water and refreshments for runners on race day this past Memorial Weekend as well as “worked” the National Under 13/15 Competition held at ECC April 26-30, 2023 by staffing all volunteer slots over the length of the five-day competition, providing food refreshments and implementing and monitoring credentials for all participants and spectators. The monies raised in these processes are used primarily for Swimkins-sponsored meet expenses, coach certifications and athletes’ meet cost.  Significantly, Swimkins have sponsored two National Age Group Championships and one Junior National Championship.  We have also sponsored numerous Association, Regional, and Zone Championships.

At the end of June 2023, we are headed to the Junior Olympics again, this year held in Hampton, Virginia, where we will compete across all categories.

Buffalo is an amazing community of close-knit hardworking people. We directly reflect this community ethos. Our athletes come from families in all walks of life and cultural and ethnic backgrounds.  They practice tirelessly from September through July, must have a tight bond of trust (they must swim as one!) and most importantly, our swimmers know that their success is predicated on hard work and dedication. Their collaboration through music, swim and dance is based on camaraderie, enthusiasm and team spirit.

Thank you for your interest in our organization – our athletes are moving forward with incredible determination and enthusiasm – we would love to have you as a proud supporter of Buffalo Swimkins!
