The 2023 Hammond for Hope Benefit for Sound Start is an annual event supporting our intensive, early education, auditory/verbal program for children who are either deaf or profoundly hard-of-hearing and wearers of either cochlear implants or hearing aids.

The program starts with a Toddler and Me series for for families with very little ones who are deaf and/or new recipients of auditory amplification devices. We focus on equipping parents with effective techniques to help their child progress in developing listening and spoken language skills.

When children reach the age of two, they can enter into our full program, which is intensive, meeting 5 times a week, with a student-teacher ratio of no more than 4:1. Speech and language therapy is provided in both group and individual settings. Audiological support is available daily in addition to Occupational therapy as needed through Savannah Speech & Hearing.

As with all of our services, admission into Sound Start is offered without consideration of a family's finances. The Hammond for Hope Benefit helps make this possible and enables the expansion of Sound Start.
