Description

On Friday, October 20th, Carpe Mundi will host its 12th annual gala & auction. This event is our largest annual fundraiser, and it is a unique opportunity to celebrate the international community and our students' achievements, past and present. Our previous events have averaged around 200 participants and we expect similar numbers this year.

Since 2012, Carpe Mundi has supported 133 incredible students who are low-income and typically under-represented in higher education. Of our students, 70% identify as BIPOC.We aim to allow low-income students regardless of background an equitable opportunity to learn and grow by accessing opportunities that affect outcomes such as greater college retention, career direction, and intercultural skills.

This year Carpe Mundi anticipates that 16 college students will participate in our mentorship and international education program. All of these students are from the greater Portland-metro area, are all low-income, as defined by eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant, 88% are first-generation college students, and 80% are Students of Color.

Carpe Mundi is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that supports college students from low-income families to access mentorship, scholarship, and experiential global learning. Students are provided with a scholarship, mentorship, a learning community of their peers, and an educational experience abroad earning 24 credits from PSU.

Through our program, students grow more self-confident and are empowered to make positive change for themselves, for their communities in Portland, and for the future as a whole.

As a business that has donated to Carpe Mundi in the past, we would like to extend our gratitude for allowing our students to participate in this life-changing opportunity. We know that King Pins shares our belief that every student deserves the chance to study abroad, regardless of their economic status. Given that the COVID-19 pandemic deprived students of the typical opportunities for personal growth and development, our mission is now more important than ever. We hope that we can count on your continued support this year.
