Walk A Thon
Walk/Run for Cumberland Parent Teacher OrganizationMay 17, 2024 12:00 PM to May 24, 2024 3:00 PM
The Cumberland Elementary PTO stands firmly behind our school, dedicated faculty, and staff. Nestled in Des Plaines, Illinois, Cumberland Elementary Cougars boast a robust community of 328 students ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade, all supported by a commendable faculty/staff of 105. As a Title I learning institution, we cater to students from underprivileged income levels, making our fundraising endeavors particularly challenging. Despite these challenges, we persist in planning numerous enrichment activities for the school.
Our premier fundraising event, the Walk-A-Thon, is a pivotal annual occasion for the Cumberland PTO. This initiative, rooted in school pride, encourages students to embrace the Cougar Code: Be a Buddy, Be Respectful, Be Safe, Be Responsible. Serving as a fantastic finale to the school year, the Walk-A-Thon fosters a heightened sense of school spirit. Students actively seek pledges from friends, family, and neighbors who wish to champion our Cumberland Cougar spirit.
Funds generated from these donations play a crucial role in supporting various initiatives, including the Monthly Paw Raffle, Positive Behaviors Interventions Support (PBIS) Celebrations, and fulfilling teacher requests. Notably, last year, the PTO successfully acquired additional equipment vital for our music, art, and gym programs. Looking ahead, we aspire to maintain this support for such programs in the coming year, continuing to enhance our students' education through the funds we raise.
We invite you to consider backing this event, enabling the PTO to sustain and expand its excellent programs that extend beyond the traditional classroom curriculum, thus contributing to making Cumberland an outstanding place for education!
