Description

West Portal Elementary School, recognized as a California Distinguished Elementary School, is home to a vibrant community centered around 587 wonderful children in grades TK through 5. At the core of the school’s success are our talented staff, eager children, committed parents and YOU, our supportive community. 

As you know, public school funding provides only the bare minimum. The West Portal Parents Club provides students with enhanced opportunities and experiences that would not exist without your support. The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) does NOT provide funds for our full-time year-round Garden Science teacher, nor for our full-time year-round World Music teacher. Nor does the district provide funding for our Recess Coach or any of our beloved community events including our Pumpkin Patch, Read-a-Thon, Rock Show, Spring Musical and Olympics. Moreover, the district does not provide funds sufficient to provide for field trips, classroom supplies, technology, and PE equipment. The West Portal Parents Club funds all of these essential enhancements.


We are asking, on behalf of our 587 students, for your support of our biggest fundraising event of the year: our annual Spring Auction.

 

The event will begin with an online auction from March 6 to March 16, 2023, and culminate in a live auction event on March 18, 2023. To prevent the loss of the teachers, programs and events mentioned above, we must raise $150,000 at this year's event. This is an enormous challenge.
