Description

Join us for the second WJNS Lei-gacy of Learning Gala on Saturday, October 14, 2023. This year’s gala will be held at the ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, from 10 am to 1 pm, honoring Ernest Lum, his ‘ohana, and their commitment to our school.

Ernest Lum, a third generation resident of Hawai‘i, played a vital role in the growth and development of the Nu‘uanu area and Honolulu community. As a parent, he was dedicated to providing a strong educational foundation for his children, sending all four of his children to Waolani Judd Nazarene School (WJNS), with six of his grandchildren to follow in their footsteps. Throughout his lifetime, he has pushed for the growth and development of schools in this community. He has held positions on Hawaii Baptist Academy’s board, Youth for Christ Hawaii board and various community boards. He is also a regular donor to WJNS, both in tangible and intangible contributions.

The Lum ‘Ohana, likewise, are quiet but active members of the local community in regard to youth education and faith-based foundation. Family members have held positions within the WJNS parent teacher council and the WJNS school board, as well as community volunteer positions for their church and neighborhood. In the Honolulu area, the Lum ‘Ohana work to strengthen youth opportunities and improving quality of life situations for low-income families.

It is people like the Lum ‘Ohana who believed in our school, trusting us with their children and grandchildren, that encourage us to continue building and growing this campus.
