The primary purpose of the USAWest Square Dance Convention, under the auspices of the USA West Policy Board, is to further the good fellowship of square dancing and to provide communication about, knowledge of, and education in order to promote, protect, and perpetuate the future of the activity through mutual understanding and cooperation. The organization supports and promotes square and round dancing, with a primary focus on the 13 Western States, and encourages participation from dancers across the educational and cultural spectrum including youth and handicapable dancers. The USA Policy Board selects a city to host the annual square dance convention. The event brings together square and round dancers across the western United States to spend time dancing as well as enjoying regional activities and attractions. This event also serves as a fund-raiser to support promotion and education activities for the square dance community, including youth and handicapable dancers.
