AABA Mission:
The mission of the African American Business Association (AABA) is to transform Will County into Illinois’ most equitable, inclusive and vibrant local economy by overcoming long-standing economic disparities, changing policies that block black entrepreneurs from accessing opportunities and resources.
AABA is a team of leaders who care about the community where we live. We are local residents invested in the health and prosperity of African American
neighborhoods and the businesses who serve them. AABA is committed to facilitating access to better opportunity and resourcesfor Black-owned businesses.
By advocating for a more fair and equitable economy we are promoting Will County to the world as a progressive, vibrant business environment where all
people have a fair shot at success.

We believe systems change is necessary to effect long-lasting, transformative improvements toward equity in Will County. Systems change means changing institutions’ policies, and shifting their mental models about racial equity to remove barriers to resources and opportunities.
Black entrepreneurs have the drive and skill to succeed. They simply need a fair playing field allowing them to compete in the mainstream economy. That’s why we focus on changing the systems that hold them back, not the entrepreneurs who are yearning to move forward.
