For over 41 years, Albion Fellows Bacon Center has been strategically working toward preventing domestic and sexual violence in our community and offering services to empower victims.  Our services assess barriers to safety and self-sufficiency as well as the emotional and psychological needs of victims.  Our programs use the Trauma Informed Care framework, focusing on the overall well-being of each individual.  We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, a United Way partner agency and work closely with law enforcement, medical providers, local prosecutors and coordinate with area service providers to provide assistance to those who have been impacted by domestic and sexual violence.  Albion’s services are free and confidential:

·        Two 24-hour crisis lines

·        Shelter for victims and children for up to 45 days

·        Individual and support group advocacy

·        Legal and Crisis Response Programs

·        Children’s Program

·        Sexual Assault and Non-Residential Programs

·        Information and referrals

·        Primary Prevention Program

·        Community Education

 In 2021, the following individuals took advantage of the programs and services provided by Albion Fellows Bacon Center:

 ·        The Shelter Program provided 3,567 nights of safe shelter to 157 adults and 108 children (145 unduplicated adults and children). As an emergency shelter, individuals and their children may stay with us for up to 45 days.

 ·        Calls to our two 24-hour crisis lines totaled 8,731; and 599 individuals requested shelter.

·        The Non-Residential Programs assisted 2,838 (1,411 unduplicated) primary and secondary clients throughout our eleven-county service area (Vanderburgh, Warrick, Spencer, Posey, Pike, Perry, Orange, Harrison, Gibson, Dubois, and Crawford).  Of these clients, 967 (759 unduplicated) had multiple victimizations.

Below is a breakdown of the different non-residential services:

ü Domestic Violence services were rendered to 2,133 (1,010 unduplicated) individuals throughout the service area.

ü Sexual Assault Services were rendered to 569 (320 unduplicated) primary and secondary individuals of sexual abuse.  Albion is known as a Rape Crisis Center.

ü Stalking services were rendered to 66 (24 unduplicated) stalking victims.

ü Human Trafficking services were provided to 70 (35 unduplicated) victims.

ü 401.75 hours were spent providing Legal Advocacy services to clients in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Spencer, Posey, Dubois and Gibson counties; 175 protective orders were filed.

ü Non-Residential staff and Crisis Response Volunteers responded to 49 on-site interventions to     local businesses, hospitals, and law enforcement agencies.

·        89 college students received valuable information on dating, domestic and sexual abuse.

·        Community education and professional training sessions reached 426 individuals throughout southern Indiana.   

·         Primary Prevention efforts reached 2,577 youth (8,109 duplicated) in multi-session formats, completing 323 sessions of evidence-based Safe Dates prevention curriculum, with an additional 1,776 youth, community and professional members receiving prevention focused training and resources; Primary Prevention efforts were also offered through social media.
