Beacons Inc is the brainchild of parents who through their participation on a variety of sepcial ed related organizations, task forces, boards and groups, recognized more postsecondary options were needed in North San Diego COunty to serve individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities With an 86% unemployment rate, and few post secondary educational or transportation options, individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities often become isolated at home once they become adults. Beacons opend its doors in November 2018 to provide meaningful options createed by those who "live" the journey and recognize the need for better outcomes for their loved ones.
Current Programs Include:
Pathfinder Program - offers vocational training in creative design, customer service, etc.
Club Beacons - supported events to foster friendships and socialization
Self-Determination - a life plannng service to support individuals - and their families
Parent Workships - topic driven workships for parents and families
