Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles’ (BGCMLA) vision is for every child in Los Angeles to chart a path to success. We achieve this by fulfilling the Boys & Girls Clubs mission to create a safe space to empower all Club members to Learn, Explore, Achieve, and Dream (L.E.A.D)! Founded in December 2015, the individual Clubs which make up the BGCMLA have a deep history of impact in the neediest areas of LA County: Challengers (founded in 1968); Watts/Willowbrook (founded in 1968); and Bell Gardens (serving kids since 1960). We began providing services on-site at Jordan High School in Fall 2021.

On January 1, 2023, we completed a merger with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Venice (BGCV), which has has worked to bridge a critical gap in youth services for at-risk children and at their Venice Clubhouse since 1967, and at satellite sites at Venice High School (since 2002), Mark Twain Middle School (since 2011), and Coeur d’Alene Elementary School (since 2021). We are thrilled to see how this new, larger organization will help us increase our impact in Los Angeles. We are now serving 3,087 members ages 6 to 18 across four Clubhouses and five school sites.

BGCMLA fulfills its mission by offering nationally recognized, research-based programs, and activities in three core areas: Academic Success, Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. Our Clubhouse doors are open year-round, with after-school and summer programming. Our Clubs nurture the emotional, physical, and academic development of some of the most at-risk and underserved youth in Los Angeles, while aspiring to promote social justice, equity, and unity within our communities and to serve as vital resource centers and support systems for our community members.
