This year over 200 chidren entered the foster care system in McHenry County. McHenry County CASA advocates for these children, helping the court to ensure a safe, loving, permant home for them. CASA Advocates build relationships with the child and important adults in their lives. They provide information to the judge helping him make the best informed decision about their permanent home. Beyond that CASA Advocates show up! They show up when a child moves from foster home to foster home. They show up at teacher meetings. They show up at the school play. Daphne was the only consistent adult in a 7 year olds life when she moved 7 times in 3 years. Carol visited Michelle in a mental health facility on Christmas Eve so the 8th grader knew she wasn't alone. Mona created such an important relationship with the children that their father asked her to remain a part of their lives after they were returned home. CASA Advocates make a difference everyday for abused and neglected children.
