The Celebrating Life Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to making breast cancer powerless by educating, encouraging, and empowering those most impacted by the disease.
The organization was founded over two decades ago to help make an impact on the mortality rate of African American Women from breast cancer. Black Women are 40% More Likely to die from breast cancer than White Women. There are several issues reasons for this disparity in health care. This organization has worked to help address these issues.
1) Creating a culturally sensitive message to be distributed to African American Women. The organization has created and distributed over a million breast self-exam cards.
2) Lack of Access to Care The organization has worked with local organization to help make sure African American Women and Medically underserved women have access to treatment and care.
3) Financial Impact of dealing with cancer. The organization has created a Pink Assistance Fund to help with utilities, food, and medical items for those going through breast cancer. The organization has also created the Pink Spoon Campaign to help provide meals and groceries to those undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
