Mission:  The Colorado Children’s Chorale, independently and in collaboration with other performing arts institutions, presents professional choral concerts and educational programs that entertain, inspire and bring joy to audiences and communities. Children of all ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds thrive in an engaging, disciplined and nurturing environment in which they receive outstanding performance and music training as well as the skills, experiences and confidence to succeed wherever their lives may take them.

Vision:  The Colorado Children’s Chorale creates unforgettable experiences that transform the lives of children and have an enduring impact on families, audiences and communities across Colorado, the nation and the world.

Since 1974 the Colorado Children’s Chorale has brought its artistry and charm to audiences throughout the world. With a diverse repertoire ranging from fully-staged opera and musical theater to standard choral compositions in classical, folk and popular traditions, the Chorale performs with an innovative stage presentation and a unique theatrical spirit. In recognition of its artistic quality, the Chorale has received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts and the prestigious El Pomar Award for Excellence in Arts and Humanities.

The Colorado Children's Chorale annually trains 400 members between the ages of 7 and 14 from all ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds, representing more than 170 schools in the Denver metro area and beyond. Since its founding, the Chorale has sung countless performances with some of the world’s finest performing arts organizations, appeared with world-renowned artists, performed for numerous dignitaries and appeared in television and radio broadcasts.

The Performance Program includes a series of self-produced concerts, numerous performances with other Colorado arts organizations and touring around the world.  In addition to the Performance Program, the Chorale offers an extensive mission-supporting Education Program. School Partnerships provide weekly choral music and performance training in schools, offering instruction to students and support for teachers with professional conductors, pianists, choreographers and other resources as needed. School concerts and workshops serve elementary and middle school students, giving school children the opportunity to experience a professional concert by their peers. Community Choirs, including the dual-language Aplausos de Colorado Children’s Chorale and Denver Jams, provide children the opportunity to rehearse and perform in their own community with no audition necessary. The Chorale Education Program was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts grant and received an Education Outreach Award from Chorus America.

Core Values and Beliefs:  The Chorale’s programs, collaborations and operations are guided by the following core values and beliefs:

Excellence is at the core of all Chorale activities.  Through disciplined action and ongoing evaluation, we deliver performances and music education programs of the highest quality.

We are inclusive. Our programs reflect our diverse community.  We ensure music and performance experiences for all children by offering need-based tuition assistance and bringing our programs to under-resourced communities.

We value innovation.  We commission new works to expand the repertoire of music for children.  Our ensembles blend the unchanged voices of boys and girls to create a rich, uniquely American sound, stretching participants to perform a diverse and expanding repertoire of music with theatrical and inventive choreography.

We ignite a passion for music. We believe that music has the power to transform lives. Our performances enrich the lives of children, families and audiences while providing gratifying, life changing experiences for our young performers.

We value arts education.  We believe that performance training and music education are vital components in the development of the whole child.  We are committed to raising awareness of the importance of investing in the development of a child’s creative thinking and the critical role arts education plays in a child’s life.

We are committed to collaboration and community building through music.  We believe that participation in choral music creates community connections and breaks down barriers that separate us.  Through our collaborations with other professional performing arts institutions, we expand our reach in the community we serve.

We are fiscally responsible.  We operate with accountability, fulfill our obligation to our community stakeholders, and are responsible stewards of the resources invested in our work.
