We provide outstanding care to every child in our community. Educating the next leaders in Pediatrics and performing research at the forefront of children's medicine.
Every child reacts differently to an illness. When at the hospital, some children may feel isolated and sad in this unfamiliar place. Others may miss their families, friends, and daily activities.
The Child Life and Family Education Program at the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital supports families by providing educational, developmental, and therapeutic services to young people of all ages.
Our program provides caring, individualized attention to children, and teenagers who are hospitalized. Specially designed child life activities can offer a welcome distraction and help young people manage pain, anxiety, or stress they may experience. In addition, a variety of expressive therapies, such as art and music, can help children and teens express themselves in a safe and supportive environment.
