Founded in 1974, Community Violence Solutions (CVS) is one of the oldest rape crisis centers in California, and one of the oldest in the country.  CVS provides support and services to child and adult victims of sexual assault and their families.

CVS operates the Children's Interview Center in Martinez, where children allegedly victimized by sexual abuse have a safe and comfortable setting to tell their story; here specialized services are provided to children ages 2-17 and their families, including forensic interviews, non-acute forensic medical exams, advocacy services, parent education, and access to therapy.

Additionally, CVS operates a 24-hour Rape Crisis Hotline that provides assistance and support to victims; staff and trained volunteers respond to nearly 2,000 requests for help each year, and are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide support by phone or in person.

CVS also staffs an Anti-Human Trafficking Response Team and Sexual Assault Response team who respond to the special needs of sexual assault victims.

CVS provides prevention and outreach services througout Contra Costa and Marin Counties to raise awareness of the issue of sexual violence and teach risk reduction strategies.  Through outreach efforts to schools and community organizations, CVS Prevention Educators raise awareness of the issues of sexual assault and teach skills aimed at preventing sexual assault and harassment.
