Friends for a Nonviolent World (FNVW) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to champion nonviolence as the foundation for effective programs and actions to promote the dignity of every human being. We seek a world free from violence and the threat of violence. Since our beginning in 1981, FNVW has demonstrated the transformational power of nonviolence at personal, community and institutional levels. Through our four main programs, we offer:

·       Workshops in prison, jails and communities on conflict resolution and active bystander intervention in our Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP). We stay connected to over 500 incarcerated people who’ve participated in our AVP workshops through our monthly AVP Newsletter.

·       A monthly podcast series, Everyday Nonviolence, which tells the story of people using nonviolence to transform the world around them.

·       An annual People Camp, a week-long transformative experience of cooperation, community living, peacemaking, and the exploration of ideas and issues.

·       Work on a policing model, Bridging the Divides, that rests on the twin pillars of genuine partnership between community and police and respect for the inherent dignity of every member of the community.
