The Home Nursing Agency Foundation exists to provide financial support to create, improve, or enhance programs and services to benefit individuals, families, and the community. One such program is the Healing Patch Children's Grief Program. The Healing Patch is a free peer support program for children and their families who have suffered the death of a loved one. One in 12 children in Pennsylvania will experience the death of a parent or sibling by the time they reach age 18. Left unaddressed, childhood grief and trauma can lead to short- and long-term difficulties including poor academic performance, mental health issues, and early mortality.

The Healing Patch provides a safe and welcoming environment for family group sessions at centers in Altoona, PA, and Ebensburg, PA. In addition to family sessions, the Healing Patch offers in-school services, grief resources, and community education regarding death and grief. Providing a safe environment for sharing memories and experiences, the Healing Patch allows grieving children and families to discover that what they are going through is normal and that hope and healing are possible.

Other programs through which patients/clients/families benefit from Home Nursing Agency Foundation funds include Family Hospice, UPMC Home Healthcare of Central Pennsylvania, Early Intervention, and WIC (Women, Infants and Children).
