The Houston International Seafarers Center provides many welfare and humanitarian services to the seafarers, whose ships dock at the Port of Houston daily. We are a 501c3 organization, and have two locations where seafarers can come relax, unwind, and connect to the Wi-Fi, call home, and buy toiletries and/or souvenirs for their families back home. We also provide transportation services for those who wish to go shopping. During the pandemic, seafarers continued to transport goods to us to ensure as much normalcy as possible to our lives; all while experiencing lengthier contracts away from their home and family. The HISC staff has adapted our programs to take "home" to them when thay haven't been able to leave their vessels. The funds raised at the Maritime Gala allow us to continue to carry on our mission.
