At Inform Your Community, our mission is to capitalize on the power of authentic, fun experiences to provide important, relevant, impactful information about civic engagement and social issues.
Information intake often occurs in front of a screen and in isolation from others. Though opportunities to learn new information in person abound, these events often take the form of formal presentations, information sessions, and teach-ins. This means that the most important knowledge for an informed populace - issues related to civics, civic engagement, civility, and civil rights - is often communicated in rather boring ways that may be less likely to engage people.
Luckily, interest in virtual social activities is on the rise. In this mix, informational events - even when offered for free - are often under-attended, overlooked, or hidden amongst the more entertaining options. Inform Your Community leverages fun in order to make learning accessible and palatable! We provide high-yield entertainment and information value in each of our free virtual programs designed especially for busy people — many of who work long or irregular hours, care for dependents, and have stressful positions. This allows for a maximization of their time by being twice as productive, both having fun and becoming informed about important topics through our programs.
Our programs include the following:
- Celebrate & Create: Children engage in craft projects inspired by inclusive monthly celebration themes.
- Craftivism: Adults learn an art technique, discuss important issues, and leave with a completed project.
- Popcorn & Chat: Attendees watch a social-issue-focused movie and engage in facilitator-led discussion.
- Know-It-All Series: The audience enjoys hearing subject matter experts present, followed by a Q&A session.
- Much-To-Discuss Meetups: Peers mingle and learn amidst the backdrop of various entertainment venues.
- Smart Shopping: Shoppers purchase branded items and handmade curriculum-integrated items.
Our programs and services are offered and provided without discrimination on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, ancestry, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, religion, disability, medical condition, veteran or military status, age or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, county or local laws, regulations or ordinances.
