La Mesa Arts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) that solely supports the arts program at La Mesa Arts Academy. La Mesa Arts Academy (LMAAC) is one of four academies in the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District. The school has nearly 1,100 students enrolled in grades 4-8. Of those 1,100 students, nearly 300 come from outside of our district boundaries. This is significant and shows that the word is out about the school and its amazing program.
In addition to the rigorous core academic program, the arts program at LMAAC includes all levels of the following art forms:
Dance, Theatre, Visual, Digital and Fine Arts, Culinary Arts, Vocal and Choral Music, Film as Literature
However, the true mission of the school is to teach students good character - how to be grateful, humble citizens of the world, have integrity, and understand that we earn what we are given in life. The arts program at LMAAC costs approximately $150,000 per year to operate above and beyond the funds provided by the district.
