Mission Statement: To enrich the quality of life for our present and future residents. By providing the opportunity and inspiration to give back to the Lake Benton area, we will utilize the resources we are privileged to have through leadership and stewardship.
Who We Are: As an affiliate of SWIF, the LBAF is dedicated to promoting a greater quality of life for the Lake Benton Area. We achieve this by helping to fund specific community projects or area organizations. These projects and organizations all enhance the community we consider home, making a better life for present and future generations.
Sixteen years ago, Lloyd and Barbara Amundson challenged each community in which they owned a bank to start an endowment fund through Southwest Initiative Foundation. With community member support, a goal was set to start the fund, which was graciously backed by $30,000 in matching funds from the Amundson’s and SWIF. Through an outpouring of local support, an endowment was established for the Lake Benton community. To continue fundraising efforts for the fund, the 1st LBAF Gala was held in conjunction with providing annual granting back to our community that same year. Every year since, the LBAF has hosted this popular annual event. Funds raised continue to help support the Lakeside Park Improvement project, the bike/walking trail project, and the LBAF Endowment Fund for future annual granting within our community.
