The Lakeshore Elementary PTA is composed of unpaid volunteers dedicated to ensuring academic, creative, emotional, physical, and social enrichment, and creating the best environment for our children. Our main method is to fund enrichment programs such as Science in the Garden, Art, Motor Perception, Yoga, Afro-Latin Drumming, and Movement, which are not covered by San Francisco Unified School District. Secondarily, we also cover classroom supplies/needs where district funds run out, and we build community by sponsoring free parent and student events. Through continual grassroots efforts, we raise ~$170K annually ($340/student) from the community (families, immediate neighborhood, and businesses) and spend over 80% directly on enrichment instruction/supplies and student/community events. Our school is rated one of the most diverse in SF, and we are also a low-income school. The programs we support have broad reach and enrich the educational experience of such a community.
