We prepare young people to be leaders and individuals of strong character by helping them discover and live by the principles of Scouting.
Scouting benefits the program recipients and the communities in which they live. Joining in partnership
with Northern Star Scouting, 694 Scouting units are chartered by 442 community organizations
representing educational, religious, non-profit, civic, and business organizations (262 Cub Scout packs,
354 Boy Scout troops, 30 Venture crews, 1 ships, and 47 Explorer posts). Scouting emphasizes building
productive citizens, and actively participating in service to the community. In 2021, our units logged over
33,325 community service hours. This service is varied and included projects such as landscaping a
park, adopting highways and byways so they are clear of litter, and collecting food to support
community-based food shelves through the annual Scouting for Food drive.
