The Objective of the Association shall be to work toward social community service and common interests of the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind community.

The Association shall strive to promote the educational, social and economic well being for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind Community.

Our mission for the Phoenix Association of the Deaf, Inc., is an unique community organization serving the Phoenix area deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind people and owns the Phoenix Deaf Community Center, where it offers social events, education, seminars, and support programs.

Phoenix Association of the Deaf is providing family/children programs including workshops.

We are also partnered with Greater Phoenix Deaf Senior Citizens, so they could have their activities and lunch meal once a week for them to socialize as a Deaf Senior Citizens community.  They provide workshops, educational tools for medical care, environmental and assistance on technology.

We have worked with Arizona Department Health Services to have the Curative to come and assist in providing Covid-19 shots to the public and providing interpreters for the deaf community. We also do Friendsgiving to provide a thanksgiving meal to homeless and low- income families.

Demographic: deaf, hard of hearing, deaf blind and sign language users Building is used for social events in sign language, meetings, educational workshops in sign language, deaf/hard of hearing senior citizens gatherings, deaf/hard of hearing children’s gatherings and non-profit organizations of the deaf use facilities

COVID has impacted deaf community.  Many people are isolated and lonely for socializing and educational information sharing such as COVID-19 prevention and treatment. It also impacted our financial maintenance.

We are working to renovate our facilities for better accessibility and safety by fundraising, but we have to close at some time. Our fundraising relied on social events.

We also open our doors to the public. We worked with the Maricopa County Health Department and the Curative to administer Covid shots to the deaf, hard of hearing, disabled, Spanish speaking and low-income adults.
